Club-9

For those looking to find the appropriate speaking group to help them develop their communication and leadership skills, they need go no further than Rostrum Club 9.

Commencing in 1958, R9 has been a leader in Rostrum in this state and currently has the SA Speaker of the Year winner as a member.  The present State President and Treasurer are members of the club as is the Convenor of Rostrum’s only service project, namely the Voice of Youth.  This is a public speaking competition for secondary students and helps to build their self confidence.

Club 9 has many Accredited Critics (Coaches) and we offer a mentor to each new member to encourage development of their potential to help them start their speaking journey.  Importantly, Rostrum 9 also contains many novice members who are in the process of developing their skills.  The common feedback received from visitors is that they find it very welcoming and they are happy to return.  R9 is a good teaching club and while members learn quickly, it is at their own pace.

Essentially, the meetings always contain much humour and members have a lot of fun.  They look forward to each meeting.

The club convenes upstairs at 12.45pm at Kappy’s Cafe, 53 Flinders Street, Adelaide and concludes about 1.40pm.  Kappy’s is just east of Gawler Place on the Southern side and offers good food and coffee within a private meeting room.

Why do the members continue to remain members?  Well, it is because great friendships are built,  wonderful speeches are heard and enjoyed.

If you would like to attend, please contact Peter Martindale on 0418 820 702 or by email at petermd@internode.on.net.
