Andrew GilbertOn Wednesday 30th October, just over 40 club members, former members, members of other clubs and friends of Rostrum Club 6 enjoyed a fun evening of fellowship and speaking at the Grandview Hotel in Fairfield.
Hosted by club president Geoff Allan, the audience listened to exploits about the club’s past, its present activities and projections for the future.
After a toast to the Club by Club Life member Pam Macallister, the speaking was lead off with a humorous anecdote from Philip Jago recalling some nontraditional Rostrum celebrations after winning a Jo Davis Cup.
We are nearing the end of the year for all office Bearers and I hope all Speakers who have served their club have gained a lot from the experience. In some clubs there will be keen interest in the new office bearer positions by enthusiastic members who want to make a difference to their club. For others it may be a rotation or swapping of chairs due to the limited members available. All I can ask is that we urge the new office bearers to be enthusiastic with their new roles. In the art of sales communication, I was always taught that in order to be enthusiastic you need to act enthusiastic.
The Rostrum Voice of Youth speaking competition has been run and won for 2018. Unfortunately Victoria did not place at the National Final but it was a wonderful experience for all National Finalists. The Victorian results are available on the website at www.rostrum.com.au/rvoy-vic/results-2018.
